Ponte knit is a double knitted fabric that si very stable and doen’t have a ton of stretch .earliy ponte knit were made primarily of just polyester and the were very rough and uncomfortable ,but noe that what they’ve done is they’re added royon in with polyster or nylon to make it a more comfirtable and soft and also spandex in there .So it gives a stretch but not like a crazy amount of stretch like royon jersey,it’s pretty hefty becouse the double knit and it has approximately 10 to 15 perent stretch .When you get it mixed with polyester and royon .
Nowadays, most of good quanlity ponte fabric is knitted with royon and nylon with spandex in it
